Heat accelerates the ‘Bleed Rate’ of the pheromone, meaning the lure will run ’empty’ sooner than in a standard warehouse. Technicians should use a ‘Date-Stamping’ system on every trap to ensure that lures are replaced before they lose their efficacy.
2. Trap Cleaning and Sanitation
Moth traps in bakeries can become ‘Harborages’ for other pests like Flour Beetles if not cleaned. Technicians must wipe down the exterior of the trap housing with an IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) solution during every inspection to remove organic film and flour buildup.
